I believe that belongings describe a lot to represent the separation. I think it takes time to perceive when someone has left home. Maybe s/he went for work or he will meet his friends. Perhaps there is a family meeting and s/he will come back tomorrow…But the forgotten things left behind are witnesses that s/he will never come back.
I tried to convey the experience of separation that each of us has become familiar with in one way or another, through the objects that come across to me in the scenario that Can wrote and which I have kept in my own life, which are not mine but eventually stick to me and now I am the responsible of. The character that I designed trying to deal with the separation does something I can but never do, and faces each object that is left behind and she identifies these objects as evidence of separation and carefully enumerates them. She contacts the person that she is separated with her reproachful and sometimes responsible inner voice and she questions the meaning of what these objects became for her in time.
